Panch Badri Yatra - Uttarakhand

Panch Badri Yatra

It is true that we have Badrinath temple as the main and biggest pilgrimage of Lord Vishnu as we call Lord Badrinath. Still, there are 4 other smaller Badri temples devoted to Lord Vishnu. Lord Badrinath is worshipped under 5 different names. These 5 holy places are collectively called as the Panch Badri. These are imperatives and holy places for Hindus. Thousands of devotees visit this place every year. Badri Vishal is the chief shrine of Lord Badrinath. The complete info about the Panch Badri of Uttarakhand is given below. You will get good help to know more about these 5 Badris. Badrinath's four auxiliary Badri places other than the main one include Bhavishya Badri, Yogdhyan Badri, Vridha Badri, and Adi Badri.

The main Badri place is also known as the Badri Vishal which is constructed as well as renovated by Shankaracharya while he did his pilgrimage to Badrinath as well as Kedamath temple. He did this after instituting ‘Jyotirdham’ in Joshimath approximately in the 8th century. You will also see a 'Tapt Kund' here having hot water which has to be mixed with cold water prior you take a bath.

Next place we have the popular Bhavishya Badri which is situated at an altitude of 2744 meter. It is situated at a distance of 19 km from an alternative seat of our Lord Badrinath. It has been built in case Badrinath shrine disappears in future, it will be the alternative. God Narsingh’s image is worshiped and preserved here. The devotees have to travel or we can say trek over 6 kilometers of distance to reach the Bhavishya Badri.

Panch Badri third shrine is Yogdhyan Badri which is situated at an altitude of 1920 meter. It is located at a distance of 23 kilometer short of the main Badrinath shrine at Pandukeshwar. It is believed that King Pandu meditated here at this place after his victory over the Kaurvas. After his meditation he left the place for his heavenly abode.

The fourth Badri out of Panch Badri is named as Vridha Badri which is beautifully situated at a height of 1380 meter. Well, this is the very first holy place of Lord Badrinath. It is situated in the Animath place. It is a wonderful place to view and worship. It has ultimate peace in the morning time.

Well, the fifth Panch Badri is Adi-Badri and it is located about 19 kilometer far from Karanprayag located on Chaukuthia-Ranikhet road. Here you will see a group of 16 temples which were created and beautifully built back in the Gupta age.

These are the Panch Badri temples of Uttarakhand. I will come back soon with Panch Kedar, the 5 Kedar temples in Uttarakhand.
