Relativity

Comes in three major varieties: Galilean, Special and General. The last two are the famous ones formulated by Albert Einstein, in 1905 and1907 respectively. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize and turned down eight times, partly due to anti-Jewish influences, but mainly because the judges simply couldn't understand what he was going on about. Even when he did get the prize, in 1922, it was mainly for his work on the photoelectric effect.

Relativity is widely accepted by scientists today, and is an important aspect of modern physics.
