A marsupial mammal, native to Tasmania. Also known as the Tasmanian Tiger or Tasmanian Wolf. Looks a great deal like a dog or a wolf, but has distinctive stripes across its hindquarters. Is a predator, but stalks its prey to exhaustion before attacking - has great stamina, but moves stiffly. Not particularly dangerous to humans, but was widely accused of killing sheep, leading to wholesale slaughter of the species. The last Thylacine died in captivity in 1936.
